Litter is a persistent issue in our communities appearing along streets, in parks, on shorelines, and throughout our waterways. Whether carried by wind, improperly disposed of, or intentionally dumped, it harms both the environment and the appearance of our neighborhoods. The Barnegat Bay Blitz is an annual, watershed-wide cleanup event that brings together volunteers with a shared commitment to protecting local lands and waters. By removing everything from small items such as bags, bottles, and cigarette butts to larger debris like tires or scraps, Blitz volunteers play a meaningful role in improving the health and cleanliness of our environment.

Volunteer at one (or more!) of the cleanups happening throughout the Barnegat Bay Watershed. In the coming weeks, Captains will submit Cleanup locations and dates, which will be displayed in the list below. You will use the list to find a cleanup in your area, then email the Captain to sign up as a volunteer. The Captain will send you information, including where to meet, provide a waiver/photo release form, send information about what to bring, wear, and how to stay safe during a cleanup. For cleanups by kayak or canoe, bring your own except where noted.
