In 2011 Dr. Mike Kennish lead a Rutgers University research team to investigate the abundance and biomass of Widgeon grass (Ruppia maritima), a type of seagrass, in the northern segment of the Barnegat Bay. This study documents his findings and puts them in a baywide context.
