What is the overall condition of the Barnegat Bay? Has it changed over the last five years? To answer these questions, the Barnegat Bay Partnership prepares a State of the Bay Report every five years. To create the report, a technical work group of Barnegat Bay scientists reviews data from recent and ongoing research to determine both the current status and overall trends of indicators used to assess the bay’s condition.
2021 State of the Bay Report
The 2021 State of the Bay Report focuses on the eight Ecosystem-based Targets established in the 2021 Comprehensive Conservation and Management Plan, and assesses the progress made towards achieving those targets.
The State of the Bay Report is based on the best available science. The approved Quality Assurance Project Plan for the 2021 State of the Bay Report can be accessed here. Continued monitoring and assessments are critical for measuring the progress of efforts to protect and restore the bay and for planning future actions.
