Spring Tree Planting

May 12, 2018 @ 10:00 am - 3:00 pm

Justin Linton, the NJ Watershed Ambassador for the Barnegat Bay, is looking for volunteers for a “Spring Tree Planting” event on Saturday, May 12th, from 10 a.m. to 3 p.m. at the Candace Ashmun Preserve in the Forked Mountain Area in Lacey Township. The goal is to plant 1,000 trees and shrubs to restore Pine Barrens habitat in the Forked River Mountain Wildlife Management Area. Volunteers will be planting shrubs and Atlantic White Cedar trees in an area that has been severely impacted by off-road vehicle damage.

Volunteers will meet at the intersection of Lacey Road and Parkway Exit 74 (GPS: 39.864509, -74.222071) and be shuttled to the planting site.

Volunteers should bring a bagged lunch, water, and a small shovel or spade. RSVP for the event by emailing Justin at ambassadorwma13@gmail.com.

The Spring Tree Planting is a joint project between the Nature Conservancy of New Jersey, the New Jersey Conservation Foundation, the NJ Department of Environmental Protection’s Watershed Ambassador Program, and the Pinelands Preservation Alliance.
