Healthy Soil is at the Root of Your Garden
July 21 @ 10:00 am - 11:30 am
July 21, 10:00 AM to 11:30 AM – Healthy Soil is at the Root of Your Garden
Soil is one of the most important components of a thriving garden, along with water and light. Through hands-on activities, explore the composition of soil, identify different soil textures, and learn how water reacts and responds to different soil texture types. Discover how to select appropriate species of plants for your garden based on your own garden soil. Learn how fertilizers run off lawns during rain events and get into our water bodies, and how a native garden can help soak up the water and prevent stormwater runoff. Presented by Becky Laboy, M.Ed., Education Outreach Coordinator, Ocean County Soil Conservation District. Open to 25 participants, so please register early.
