Healthy Soil is at the Root of Your Garden – Free Workshop for Adults

July 21 @ 10:00 am - 11:30 am

Ocean County Soil Conservation District (OCSCD) and the Brick Township Municipal Utilities Authority (Brick Utilities/BTMUA) are teaming-up to bring you this free workshop: Healthy Soil is at the Root of Your Garden, on July 21, 2024, from 10:00am to 11:30am. The workshop is being held at the Brick Reservoir as part of Brick Utilities’ Weekend at the Reservoir community education program. Participants will learn how healthy soil is key for a thriving garden. Join Becky Laboy, Education Coordinator, Ocean County Soil Conservation District as she explains the importance of soil health for productive gardens. Through hands-on activities, explore the composition of soil, identify different soil textures, and learn how water reacts and responds to different soil types. Discover how to select appropriate species of plants for your garden based on your own garden soil. Explore the benefits of proper fertilizer usage for a flourishing landscape while reducing its harmful impacts to the environment and waterways. Explore how a native garden can help reduce stormwater runoff and pollutants from reaching our rivers and Barnegat Bay.

Class size is limited, so early registration is recommended. Please contact Shari Kondrup via email at skondrup@brickmua.com or telephone at 732-701-4282 to register or obtain more information.
