Crabbing Responsibly at Barnegat Bay: Catch Them if You Can
November 11, 2020 @ 12:30 pm - 1:30 pm
Catching blue crabs in Barnegat Bay is an important activity that spans generations. Over the years, there has been a debate about the numbers and sizes of crabs captured with perceptions that “crabbing
isn’t what it used to be”. Eleven students from the Marine Academy of Technology and Environmental Science (MATES) formed a “Crabbing Responsibly at Barnegat Bay” (CRABB) Team that was organized to develop a survey to get a better understanding of recreational crab captures and perceptions. This included the size requirements and blue crab capture practices. Join Dr. Wnek’s CRABB Team as they share their results and make recommendations that may help to maintain recreational blue crabbing as a successful and fun activity at Barnegat Bay
